An electric utility is a company (often a public utility) that engages in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity for sale generally in a regulated market. The electrical utility industry is a major provider of energy in most countries. It is indispensable to factories, commercial establishments, homes, and even most recreational facilities. Lack of electricity causes not only inconvenience, but also economic loss due to reduced industrial production. Electric utilities include investor owned, publicly owned, cooperatives, and nationalized entities. They may be engaged in all or only some aspects of the industry. Electricity markets are also considered electric utilities--these entities buy and sell electricity, acting as brokers, but usually do not own or operate generation, transmission, or distribution facilities. Utilities are regulated by local and national authorities. OrganizationUtility service territories are typically geographically distinct from one another. These territories may be set by regulation or by economics as the capital cost of reproducing infrastructure is usually prohibitive. Each territory is composed of different types of consumers, usually broadly described as either commercial, residential or industrial. From Wikipedia under the

If you have a water bed, insulate it. Insulate the mattress so that loss of heat in minimal and try putting bubble pack or sheet insulation between platform and liner when setting up the bed. Hang out clothes or use an inside stand instead of dryer. Solar heat water before it goes into hot water boiler. Turn off unused lights. Turn all stand-by equipment off when not in use. Hair dryers use a lot of energy. Run only full loads of laundry and fill the dishwasher. Outside lights on motion detectors instead of letting lights burn constantly. That's all I can think of at the moment. Answered by kitchenchemist - Tue May 16 04:19:58 2006 Is it illegal to have an electric bill or any utility in a deceased persons name? Q. I always get to be the elected argument settler. Please someone help me get back to sleep! I figured it was! Now back to sleep for now. Lol. I'll check this again tomorrow! Im not sure if it was legal, but when my grandfather passed away all of the bills were in his name. They were changed during the time that the estate was settelrd. I assumed you mwere talking about if a person has recently passed on and the estate has not been setteled. If the deceased was a homeowner the utility remains in their name and the bill is paid during the probate process from the esate funds. The home still needs utilities even if unoccupied. here is a website: It is determined by local laws and/or the utility policies.
